This constructed territory only tangentially touches the world it depicts, operating instead as a mythology of place, repetition, and displacement.
Behind the work is a larger geopolitical landscape stretching into the past - the artist’s personal experiences in the former Soviet Union, and in the present, with current political and economic instability, that forces the artist’s generation to rethink the mythologies handed over to them.
